Rehearsal Snacks, Hydration & Food Reminders

⭐ Quick Takeaways

Send snacks from home based on rehearsal length
No food deliveries or drop-offs to campus during rehearsals
Students should bring a water bottle and save snacks for rehearsal

Thank you to the many families who have been helping their children arrive at rehearsal prepared with snacks, water, and the energy they need to fully participate in this exciting process.

Your support helps rehearsals run smoothly and keeps our students feeling their best.

For families who may be newer to our production process, please revisit the food and snack blog post shared earlier this week and the Sunday FAQ page.

🍎 Food During Rehearsals

During extended rehearsals, we intentionally build in a snack break for short rehearsals and multiple snack breaks during longer rehearsals, so students have time to refuel and recharge.

Please plan ahead and send food from home based on rehearsal length:

Up to 2 hours: Pack a snack
More than 2 hours: Pack an extra snack
3 hours or longer: Pack snacks and a light dinner

If you are concerned about your child being hungry, we recommend packing an extra snack.

Students should also arrive on Sundays having already eaten a healthy, filling breakfast. A well-fed cast helps rehearsals run more smoothly and keeps everyone focused and energized.

Because each child’s appetite and dietary needs are different, please send food from home for your own child rather than coordinating communal snacks.

⭐ Quick Reminder

We have noticed that some students are eating their rehearsal snacks earlier in the school day. Please remind your child to save their snack for rehearsal, so they have food available during our scheduled snack breaks.

πŸ’§ Hydration

Please be sure students arrive with a water bottle and enough hydration for the duration of rehearsal.

Over the next several weeks it is especially important that students stay healthy, hydrated, and well-rested, as sleep, nourishment, and hydration all help them stay focused and energized during this busy rehearsal period.

⚠️ Important Reminder

Food deliveries and outside drop-offs during rehearsal are not permitted.

For safety and security reasons, our team cannot accept deliveries or allow additional building entry during rehearsals. During practice, all hands are on deck supervising students and supporting the rehearsal process, so our focus must remain on keeping the building secure and rehearsals running smoothly.

If your child will need additional food, please send it with them when they arrive prior to rehearsal.

πŸ• Tech Week & Duloc Dining

As we enter Tech Week, we will follow our Duloc Dining Schedule to help support students during longer rehearsal days.

Pizza will be provided on certain evenings
• If your child does not prefer pizza, families are welcome to send dinner from home
Additional snacks will be available throughout tech week

Please also note that on Thursday’s dress rehearsal, students will eat their regular SAGE lunch in the dining hall, as school will still be in session.

Productions like this truly take a village, and we are grateful for the many ways families support their children and the entire cast. Your help in ensuring students arrive prepared, nourished, hydrated, and ready to collaborate creates a positive, focused rehearsal environment for everyone

Jazz shoes should fit snugly with no gaps. Cast members may wear a ped sock or a no-show shoe liner with their jazz shoes for comfort or without a liner.

Please re- familiarize yourself with our shoe/undergarment needs document (linked here).

All of these documents and links are located to the right of this post, under the Costume & Shoe Needs header.

Please reach out if you have questions about shoes, hair and/or makeup.

Letter from gift chair

Dear SHREK JR. Families,

I am writing to ask you for your support in recognizing our Director, Kendrick Phillips, and several others who have gone above and beyond to make our show the huge success it will be.

Each year, Ms. Kendrick, our director, works tirelessly long before the school day, long after rehearsals, on holidays, and each weekend to ensure our school production resembles something you may have seen on Broadway- choreographing and staging the show, creating the set, prop, and costume design of the costumes, teaching music, creating an infinite amount of production spreadsheets, blog posts, and communications, and shopping and meeting with vendors for the musical to help our cast and crew shine.

In addition, several dedicated staff and volunteers give countless hours to ensure the high quality of our production. Those new to this experience will be amazed to see nearly 160 children, ages 5-14, come together for unforgettable, magical performances.

Please help honor and show your support and appreciation for Kendrick and the production staff by donating an amount of your choosing per child in the play to help purchase a Director’s gift and flowers/thank you's for all who make our kids smile and shine when they are on stage.

Please Venmo @tmand or email me at tamaramand@gmail.com if you prefer to give a different way.

We would love to collect all donations by the final dress rehearsal on March 20th.

Thank you in advance for your participation. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
