Sunday 2/12 Rehearsal, Volunteers, Star Wall & Updates!

We are working hard and looking forward to another great Sunday rehearsal—our second of five!

We’re already halfway through our Sunday rehearsals, but much is left to learn. With only a few Sundays to put together multiple songs, dances, blocking, and props for a full production with 160 students, it is vital that everyone attends rehearsal for the entire call time- unless you communicated any conflicts at the time of registration.
We always understand and have deep empathy for our sweet ones who are under the weather/sick.

A reminder: the 4th and 5th Advanced Ensemble members must be present for all regular rehearsals and the extended schedule, as there is too much material to cover to accommodate missed hours/days.

Thank you for your commitment—let’s make this an incredible show together!

SUNDAY REHEARSAL CLOTHING THEME!
This Sunday's theme is pajamas and/or anything Superhero or Fairytale!

What do I need to bring to Sunday rehearsals?
  • FOOD & DRINK
    • A water bottle.
    • A snack/multiple snacks for rehearsals that are 2 hours or longer.
    • A lunch for rehearsals that are LONGER than 3.5 hours.
      • Please follow our nut-free policies regarding food brought to school.
    • No deliveries or delivery services are allowed during rehearsals.
  • EVERYONE
    • Please eat breakfast before arrival and rehearsal call times. It is VITAL to the success of rehearsal that all participants eat a good breakfast before rehearsal. Hungry bellies make for irritable humans who find it hard to focus and have enough energy to participate in rehearsal!
  • TO BRING SCRIPTS OR NOT TO BRING SCRIPTS?
    • Mechina through 2nd grade do NOT need to bring their scripts to rehearsal!
    • 3rd through 8th grade bring scripts to rehearsal.
    • The crew only needs to bring scripts to rehearsal beginning on March 8, 2026
      • Crew Families, please ensure you have read the Crew page located at the top of the blog.
      • Crew Sundays are optional until mandatory Sundays begin. This information is on the Crew page and in the registration packet.

ALL Parents and MS Students, PLEASE ensure you have read the Sunday Rehearsals FAQ's link in full.
(The link above is also a page tab at the top of the blog.)

It contains essential information about Sunday rehearsals!

💚 Our Incredible Shrek Village 💚

I want to begin by saying how deeply grateful I am for all of you who have filled out our volunteer form, and to those wonderful volunteers who helped clean and organize during our first Sunday rehearsal. Your presence and your generosity of spirit made such a difference. The energy in the building was joyful and productive — and that only happens because of you!

As we move closer to tech week, we have another call for volunteers this Sunday to help with sizing, cleaning, and organization!

🎽 Costume Sizing Volunteers Needed

  • 5–6 volunteers for ourMechina through 2nd grade group

  • 2 volunteers for the 3rd-grade group

If you are able to help with either of these groups this Sunday, please email Amy Robinson and me at:
amyrobinson82@gmail.com and kphillips@davisacademy.org

👕 Costume Shop & Organization Help Needed

We could also use 6 to 10 Volunteers for any duration of time during this Sunday's rehearsal day to:

  •  Help organize and set up our costume shop room

  • Help with cleaning up our back storage area

  • A few volunteers to assist with labeling t-shirts and putting them into boxes by the Homeroom teachers.

If you’re able to help in any of these areas, please email me and cc Amy at amyrobinson82@gmail.com.

As we turn the corner into tech week, you’ll begin to see more volunteer requests. We are so grateful to everyone who has already filled out the volunteer form.

If you signed up to help during dress rehearsals and shows (whether in the dressing rooms, at concessions, or with merchandise), we will release a schedule in the next few weeks with everyone's assignments and any remaining needs!

And as we look ahead to our Sunday, March 1st, rehearsal, our crafting and sewing volunteers, we will absolutely be putting your talents to use in the costume shop. We cannot wait to have you join us.

For those who have asked if it’s too late to sign up, it is never too late. Here is the volunteer form link again. We welcome every helping hand!

This production simply does not happen without your generosity, your time, and your willingness to step in wherever needed. I am so deeply appreciative.

I truly love our village. 💚🧅

STAR WALL

We will be creating a STAR WALL to feature our amazing young thespians.

By Sunday, March 8th, please send in a 4x6, 5x7, or 8x10 headshot/school picture/close-up photo of your child (only your child in the picture, please), with their name and grade printed on BOTH the back of the photograph and the envelope you submit it in.  The photo will not be returned, so please do not send an original image.

You may drop this off at Sunday practices or leave it with the front desk of either campus in an envelope marked SHREK STAR WALL FOR MS. KENDRICK!

Please keep rehearsing with the following resources, which are located to the right of this blog post under the Song, Dance, and Script heading.

Choreograhpy Videos from our Dance Captains will be posted beginning THIS Sunday and added under the resources as well.
